How to Prepare Metal Building Insulation Measurements

A useful insulation request separates roof areas, wall areas and openings, then lists the roll sizes required by the planned installation. Start with your building drawings and verify dimensions at the site.

Record each area separately

Make a list for each roof slope and wall section. Record the dimensions along the actual installation surface; a sloped roof’s length is not the same as its horizontal footprint. Note doors, windows, penetrations and changes in framing.

Choose the requested roll configuration

Titan’s insulation configurator lists VRR-Plus vinyl-backed fiberglass in 4-foot and 6-foot widths, with 2-inch, 4-inch and 6-inch thickness options. Custom lengths are available by request. Confirm the facing, assembly details and required thermal performance for your project before selecting thickness. Thickness alone does not establish the installed assembly’s R-value.

Prepare a roll schedule

For each configuration, write down width × length per roll × number of rolls. For example, five rolls requested at 6 feet wide and 40 feet long represent 1,200 square feet of nominal material area. That calculation does not include installation allowances, laps, cutting waste or the effects of compression.

Have the installer confirm those allowances and the roll layout before ordering custom lengths. Keep different widths, thicknesses and lengths on separate cart lines.

Include delivery requirements

Provide the delivery address, requested timing, whether the site is commercial, residential or a job site, and whether a dock or forklift is available. These details help Titan prepare the shipping quote.

Request a review before ordering

If you have not finalized the lengths, select “Request a call about lengths” in the configurator. Send the building takeoff or drawings to sales@titansteelproducts.com with your contact details. Pricing, specifications and delivery are confirmed with the quote.
